Explore at least 7 different unique towns and villages along Croatia’s beautiful Dalmatian Coast including the region's top destinations like Korčula, Jelsa, Bol, Split and Dubrovnik as well as some hidden swim spot along the way... all while only unpacking once! Our local cruise manager will be on-hand to help you make the most of your ample time in each port.
A sunrise morning flow yoga class will be offered daily on the sun deck. Our yoga classes are taught by experienced, warm and welcoming certified teachers. On select evenings another wellness offering such as a gentle yoga class, journaling workshop or meditation will be provided. All classes are 100% optional and open to any level of yoga practitioner.
Enjoy an optional guided hour long walking tour with important historical and cultural insights in 3-4 of our ports (tours are in English). These are lead by guides local to each town who are experts in the area. Learn about the history, architecture and local delights of some of Croatia's best towns.
One afternoon we'll venture away from the port in Hvar and towards a quaint village to visit a beloved family winery in the region. You'll get to try several wines, including a few special Croatian varietals, in a super unique environment. This is a can't-miss experience.
Our captain will ensure we get to have multiple swim stops through the week where we will duck into a private bay to anchor in the stunning Adriatic Sea. Paddleboard, swim or just float directly off the stern of the boat in the crystal clear waters while marveling at the scenery.
In addition to daily yoga, and optional extra walks and hikes... you can also choose to spend your time relaxing. Stretch out in one of the two outdoor lounges, or grab a good book in the indoor lounge and library. Or pamper yourself with the on-board hot tub (perfect place from which to watch the sunset!).
In addition to our owner and Chief Zen Officer Anna, each Above Yoga retreat has one or two additional certified yoga teachers on-site who will lead a portion of the classes and support students in their practice. We find that an opportunity to participate in a variety of classes with various teaching styles adds to our guests’ overall retreat experience. We also have local guides who are experts in their region of the world who will add so much to your experience.
Anna is Above Yoga's lead retreat planner and yoga instructor who will guide your experience from booking to disembarkation. This will be her 5th visit and yacht trip in Croatia in 7 years. Expect an attention to detail, delivered with a smile. She will also guide some of the on-board yoga classes. Her favorite types of yoga are those that are accessible to all levels of practitioner such as: slower vinyasa classes, gentle yoga and guided meditations. She currently lives in Raleigh, NC with her husband, senior rescue pup and young daughter.
Nataša is our long-term partner and host in Croatia who we've worked with since 2019. She was born on the island of Brač on the Dalmatian coastline (which we'll visit on this cruise) and has worked in tourism in the yachting industry for many years. When she's not helping to manage yacht guests, you can find her working as a therapist. Nataša will be on-board with us the entire week. She'll often join us on the top deck for yoga too, as she's an avid practitioner herself.
Jennifer has been working in the fitness industry for more than a decade. She is certified in yoga, pilates, barre and a certified personal trainer. She enjoys working with clients of all levels and helping them to reach their fitness goals. Jennifer first came on retreat with us way back in 2018 to Ireland and has been a friend of AYR ever since. She and her husband, Michael, have two adult children and two dogs and live in Blacksburg, VA where she teaches classes at InBalance Yoga.
Hunter is a yoga teacher in based in Greenville, South Carolina. She began her yoga journey in 2018 and fell instantly in love with the mind and body practice. She loves teaching a wide range of yoga from more relaxing yin to powerful vinyasa flows. When she's not teaching she's probably traveling, exploring outdoors, reading, writing poetry or hanging out her with cat, The Great Catsby. Hunter has also taught on our Panama, Morocco and Portugal retreats and we are thrilled to have her back on the teaching team.

This is a one-way itinerary, as our cruise will take us from the southernmost portion of Croatia's coastline (Dubrovnik) to an area farther north (Split / Šibenik). We'll stop in a new port every day, including several islands and a few stops on the mainland. This mean less time traveling between places and more time in beautiful locales!
You'll want to land at the Dubrovnik airport (DBV) prior to the cruise and depart from the Split airport after the cruise ends (SPU). We highly recommend you arrive at least a night or two ahead of the retreat to give yourself extra time to acclimate to the time change and board the ship without stress. This will also give you additional time in Dubrovnik, known as the "Pearl of the Adriatic" and a unique UNESCO World Heritage site. We highly recommend you take time to walk the city walls, enjoy a cable car ride up to Mount Srd and dine al fresco overlooking the sea. More information on logistics and timing will be shared in the Next Steps + FAQs email you'll received immediately upon booking. You may also choose to stay additional nights in Šibenik or Split at the end of the cruise. The transportation will drop off at the Split airport.
While our yacht is privatized for only the Above Yoga Retreat group, there will be many similar yachts also in ports with us. Please note that this means when docking the boats can be several across and you must walk through multiple boats to get onto the dock. The boat itself has only stairs between decks. If you have any walking impairments or have trouble taking steps up or down, this retreat is not a good fit for you.
Upper deck VIP cabins have windows and a private balcony with seating. This will be enjoyed most when we are sailing during the morning hours. It's an extra lovely + quiet spot for coffee and a book! Often when we are parked in a port, (which is most afternoon and evenings), your balcony views will be at least partially obscured as we will be parked immediately adjacent to other ships.
Everything on this retreat (and all our retreats) is completely optional! If you want to skip the guided tours or sleep in instead of flowing in a morning yoga class - we say "do it!" You'll notice that our guests feel empowered to take what they want and leave the rest. It's a vacation, not summer camp! No "forced fun" here. Feel free to read your book on the sun deck, go for a run in port solo or anything else your heart desires - regardless of what the scheduled activities are!
Early summer is a great time to visit Croatia, and a time where we can usually expect to have fairly calm seas and very little to no rain. But, the ocean is unpredictable, so there's always a chance we could encounter higher winds or rough seas. We suggest you bring Seabands or Dramamine if you tend to get sea sick. The good news is that the boat stays in a port overnight, and are always within sight of the coastline. Our captain will plot the best course for our week and keep us under sunny skies as much as possible.
You'll be given a full packing list at least 30 days before the retreat. You'll want to bring plenty of casual and athletic gear for yoga, walking tours and just hanging out. We also suggest you bring a few nicer items for dinners out in town and for the Captain's Dinner - a chance to dress up. The average weather this time of year is highs in the upper 70s or low 80s, with overnight lows in the 60s. It can get breezy on the boat, especially in the mornings and evenings, so pack a few light layers.
This retreat is omnivore, meaning most meals will feature meat or seafood options. Breakfast will include eggs, cheese, meats, fruits, cereals and pastries. Lunches often include salads, pastas or risottos and a meat or seafood item. Most dietary restrictions can be accomodated. However please note that while vegetarian options are usually available, vegan options cannot be guaranteed. If you have life-threatening food allergies, please inquire before booking.
Every full day on retreat will have at least one yoga class or wellness offering; some days there will be two. Our daily morning flow (vinyasa or slow flow) will get your body warmed up for the adventures ahead. Any afternoon or evening wellness offerings will be gentle movement, journaling workshops, meditation practices, etc. Most yoga classes will be accessible for those out of practice and we welcome all levels of practitioners.
The people were great and made some friendships that could last a life time. The food was exquisite, I could not get enough! The sites and scenery were breath taking and felt like looking at works of art. It was everything and anything I could ask for in a trip. Exceeded way beyond my expectations!
- James, Charlotte, NC (Croatia 2023)
This experience far exceeded my expectations. Anna truly has a gift for giving just the right amount of information and working behind the scenes to ensure an amazing experience for guests with multiple ideas of what a trip/yoga retreat should be. I didn't quite know what to expect and had a bit of trepidation letting go and having the experience planned out for me (would I really like what was being planned?), but it turns out when Anna is planning all of the travel, you can let go of all your travel planning and have an amazing trip. Even if I would have tried to plan a trip myself, there is no way I could have made it this amazing (and worry free!), and I think that is really the advantage to traveling with someone so knowledgeable like Anna. Can't wait to do another trip in the future!
- Meredith, Golden, CO (Croatia 2023)
This was an amazing trip. The people, the yoga, and the places we went...just incredible. The organization and ongoing adjusting was excellent. I feel like I was with family the entire time...and I went alone on this trip!
- Tom, Bloomington, IL (Croatia 2021)
Anna made what would have been a wildly overwhelming planning process manageable and stress free. Her willingness to go the extra mile to make sure that everyone feels safe and comfortable on her retreats is best in class. Outside of all the logistics involved with a retreat, Anna and her guests are an absolute pleasure to be around. Her ability to pull together people of all ages from all over the globe and them feel more like family than friends is a special attribute that is impossible to put a price tag on. This was my second retreat with Above Yoga and it certainly won’t be my last. If you are considering going on one of her retreats, DO IT. I guarantee you that you will not be disappointed and will walk away with more friends and memories than you ever could have imagined.
- Shannon, Charlotte, NC (Croatia 2021)
This retreat was truly the PERFECT getaway! From the first e-mail through to the end of the trip, Anna’s communication and attention to detail was flawless and it was an unbelievable feeling to go on vacation and truly be on vacation. The passion she has to build and share experiences with her guests shines through each day of the itinerary. And, as someone with minimal yoga experience who joined for the destination, the zero-pressure atmosphere coupled with the fantastic instruction and supportive guests really allowed me to enjoy all aspects of the trip… the hard part will be choosing which retreat to do next!
- Jess, Portsmouth, NH (Croatia 2023)
Everything about this yoga retreat, and working with Anna, has been a delight! Anna provided ample pre-retreat communications with everything from local Croatian recommendations to a packing guide (which was so helpful). I am a planner, and having every detail listed out for me so I didn't have to ask too many questions really put me at ease. Not carrying a mental load was my whole goal for this trip. Anna provided the itinerary, gave us local recommendations in each city, the crew handled our meals, drinks, and cabins, I really feel like I didn't have to think about a thing! All I had to do was decide if I wanted to lay out on the sun deck or swim off the back deck! Each day of the trip had the right ratio of free time and planned activities. I loved that several of the stops had guided walking tours so we knew where we were and learned some interesting tidbits, but I also loved that there wasn't a tour at every stop so we had the freedom to wander on our own. I appreciated not feeling pressured to participate (in yoga) when my body was telling me to take it easy. This retreat was truly luxurious, my husband and I both are calling it our best vacation ever! I fell in love with Croatia!
- Susan, Charlotte, NC (Croatia 2023)
Every single detail was planned to perfection and the communication was truly exceptional. Yachting in Croatia is an experience EVERYONE should have at least once in their lifetime and adding Anna's incredible travel savvy + yoga classes and curation of mindfulness really sets this up to be one of the greatest trips of all time. The yacht accommodations were 10/10. Truly, there is absolutely NOTHING I would change. Anna does such a good job of choosing a yacht and a crew that set the perfect tone for the trip. Additionally, her selection of stops and locations is unreal. She truly shows us the best of Croatia. Finally, this retreat allows for fun, relaxation, laughter, quiet time and mindfulness. It's the best of all worlds and TRULY felt like a vacation instead of a trip packed with plans, research, coordination, etc!
- Lauren, Charlotte, NC (Croatia 2023)
Everything was truly amazing! It was a stress free vacation- Once I got myself to Split I did not have to think about anything else other than fully relaxing and soaking up every moment of the incredible experience. It was a perfect balance between active activities and full relax mode cruising on the Adriatic Sea! The itinerary was easily communicated and the app with recommendations at each port was very useful during free time. Everything was fully optional- I was not planning to do a ton of yoga but I only missed one class; It was a perfect way to start the day! The boat, meals, crew, hosts/guides, and group on the trip were 10/10! This trip was easily one of the most stress free and relaxing vacations I have ever been on- I am very grateful that I was able to get to experience Croatia with Above Yoga and the top notch team Anna put together!
- Katie, Charlotte, NC (Croatia 2023)
Anna made our trip to Croatia memorable for so many reasons. Visiting a foreign country, during a pandemic, is challenging but she couldn’t have made it any easier. She let us know exactly what to expect, how to prepare and was always quick to update us when things changed. Also, I really appreciated her policy around vaccines and testing. Once we got there we didn’t have to think about a thing. Anna had everything under control and set the tone for a fun and relaxing retreat. We made some great new friends and long lasting memories. We were so spoiled we can’t imagine traveling without Above Yoga!
- Marcie, Richmond, VA (Croatia 2021)
This was the best trip of my entire life! Anna communicated frequently and effectively, the boat was beautiful and the crew could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Croatia exceeded my expectations- the food, the wine, the shopping (especially the jewelry:) were amazing. Perhaps some of my favorite activities were the morning yoga and the journaling workshop. I would highly recommend this trip and am looking forward to future Above Yoga retreats!
- Kelley, Chapel Hill, NC (Croatia 2023)
This was my second trip to Europe with Above Yoga and it was as expected...amazing and organized. Even with friends from my first retreat, it's an amazing way for me to travel solo safely. The ebb and flow of some days with more structure and less free time and vice versa makes for an amazing vacation. As Anna always says, the yoga is optional! It is really an incredible group of people that Anna brings together and we always leave as friends.
- Kate, Indianapolis, IN (Croatia 2021)
From the minute I signed up for this retreat there was no doubt it was going to be something special. The communication and amount of detail given by Anna was outstanding. There was no information spared and I felt very prepared for the trip. Once onsite, everything was wonderful. It was relaxed and organized throughout the entire trip. The other guests that attended were amazing and I cannot say enough about the wonderful crew and top-notch trip leaders. I knew the trip was going to be unforgettable, but it truly exceeded my expectations on every level. I look forward to future retreats and cannot wait to revisit Croatia!
- Sarah, Cornelius, NC (Croatia 2023)
The communication from start to finish was excellent. I especially appreciated the commitment to keeping everyone as safe as possible with COVID, and the communication surrounding vaccine, testing, and mask requirements. The yacht and crew were amazing! I don't think any future vacation can top how spoiled we were in Croatia!
